Mycolance (MK.1) made it to MD, and I immediately started looking for morels close to sunset in some old stomping grounds. I went to a spot with multiple species of morels with the purpose of taking high-quality photos of Morchella angusticeps.

I took Mycolance (MK.1) cross-country to MD intent on finding morels in some prime habitat along the way. I first stopped in Missouri and was pleasantly surprised to find some great morels in an unfamiliar environment.

We again had an early start, circling around to another piece of public forest access that connected to our prime spot. Again, morels everywhere. We picked several hundred before calling the day.

We started early this morning, eating breakfast and immediately carved our way through the sliver of public access positioned between private property (fenceline) and an old abandoned stone building of some kind. Within 5 minutes, I came face-to-face with a cottonmouth that curled up a few inches from my face as I was climbing over a section of the stone building. We saw a few rattlers and continued our way into the public forest. Morels absolutely everywhere. Hundreds upon hundreds.

I set out with Mycolance (MK.1) to catch the peak of morel season in Northern Oklahoma. I met Rana halfway, who was in Texas at the time. We spent the first day locked in a private property hell-scape. Absolutely no public access trails. I downloaded OnX to scope potential public forest access and scored a boat ramp with access that opened up into a much larger plot of public access.
We immediately started finding morels, but would need to sleep overnight.
